A Perthshire village has been devastated by flooding forcing hundreds of people from their homes. A major emergency was declared in Comrie near Crieff this morning after a river burst its banks. Dozens of residents had to be rescued and will spend the night in temporary accommodation. In other news; Dutch food firm Vion has announced plans to sell off all of its UK operations, to concentrate on its European businesses. The announcement comes after months of speculation about the company, which will close its meat processing plant, Halls of Broxburn, in February. Their UK headquarters are in Livingston. In local news; A man has admitted running a heroin operation that flooded the streets of Fife with the drug. John Brown organised runners to pick up drugs and cash in Glasgow before bringing them to the area. The forty nine year old and his associates Laura McLean and Stewart Urquhart pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of the class A drug. Also in sport; The SPL clubs have today unanimously backed proposals for a new expanded professional league set up. A vote on the plans, which differs from those being put forward by the SFL, could take place in a fortnight.
